Originating from Japan, CoCo Ichibanya is known as the best curry house that allows you to create your own special mix for a curry rice set. Expanding worldwide with more than 1,300 outlets, it currently has four outlets in Singapore at various locations: 313 Somerset, Bugis+, The Star Vista and Westgate.

Exploring Westgate, my friends and I decided to try out the outlet there with a few others. With the variety of curry sets to choose from, we were spoiled for choices! So after much contemplation, we finally come to a decision and this is what we got: (since it's normal to start with appetisers, I shall start with desserts)

Desserts:
The different kind of pancakes comprises of different flavours and mouth feels, catering to Japanese dessert lovers.

Caramel Nutty Pancake. ($7.90)
The pancake is served with a generous serving of whole mixed nuts, vanilla ice cream and sweet caramel and custard sauce. With every bite, the sweetness of the vanilla ice cream sets slowly in your mouth followed by the fluffiness of the pancake and the crunchiness of the nuts.

Rainbow Fruity Pancake. ($8.90)
With a variety of fruits, the pancake is not only eye-catching but has an added on healthier factor as well! A classic combination of sliced fresh bananas, strawberries and chocolate and custard sauce all served in one with a fluffy pancake.

Banana Choco Pancake. ($7.90)
This pancake is served with a generous serving of whipped cream accompanied by the crunchiness of the nuts and starchiness of the sliced bananas. A mouthful of this dessert will allow you to have it all in one: sweet, crunchy, chewy and starchy.

What's unique about the different curry rice sets is that one can choose the level of spiciness according to the preference of the person:

Level 1: Medium Hot
Level 2: Hot
Level 3: Extra Hot
Level 4: Super Hot
Level 5: Crazy Hot

Pork Cutlet Curry with Cheese.
As a spicy lover, I decided to try out Level 2. Crispy on the outside and tender in the inside, the pork slices complements the spiciness of the curry, bring out its flavour to the fullest. Accompanied by the fragrance of the Japanese rice, the cheese that was an added topping to the dish allowing every bite to chewy and crispy at the same time.

Omu Rice with Hashed Beef.
This dish is slightly different due to the sweetness of the curry and specially caters to all the non-spicy curry lovers. The beef slices are tender and juicy along with the omelette that melts in your mouth. With an added on cheese topping, it provides and smooth and chewy mouthfeel.

Omu Rice Pork Cutlet.
Level 2.
This dish is similar to the pork cutlet curry (1st main course dish), however it is slightly different due to the omelette that goes along with it.

Appetisers:
