Many rave about the famous Chye Seng Huat Hardware and are often taken aback by the building which hosts the café. Stepping into the café, one will realise that it is brightly lit with warm stage lights and is surrounded by an Australian feel.

Although the exterior of the café is not very attractive, the innovativeness of its interior will definitely take your breath away. Situated in the midst of warehouses, its location is not very prominent but it is worth a visit.

What differentiates Chye Seng Huat Hardware from other cafés is not only its hidden location but its uniqueness of the three in one concept: a café, a workshop and a vintage shop. Having two accessible levels to the public, you can freely explore the various places during your visit. If you would like to purchasing of coffee beans, it can be done on the ground floor, which is on the same level as the café.

What's a great afternoon without small bites to go along with it?

For my first visit here, I decided to get an asparagus bacon + tomato quiche. Accompanied by a mix of orange and watermelon juice, it is a perfect combination for tea break.

The goat's cheese cake is the way to go for all the dessert lovers! Glazed with sugar on the top, the softness of the cheesecake compliments the crunchiness digestive biscuit base, leaving you with a sweet mouthfeel. Honestly, I'm not a fan of goat cheese, but this cheesecake does not have a slight goat taste or smell, which left me satisfied (:

The interior of the café is also decorated with vinyls, records and magazines, not forgetting the music which enhanced the vintage feel.

Taking a photograph or two in or around the cafe will enrich your café hopping experience, making it a memorable one for you too!
